At the end of July, we took a weekend trip to Yercaud. From Chennai, it's a 4-hour train ride to Salem Junction and about an hour long bus ride from Salem Junction to the quaint town of Yercaud.
The drive from Salem to Yercaud was absolutely lovely but if you're prone to car sickness, I suggest taking some pills. The road has 20 hairpin bends through the mountains. On the way up, the bus driver was taking it easy and it wasn't too bad, but on the way back our driver was speeding down the hills relentlessly and even I was feeling a little nauseous.

We stayed at Grange Resort, which is nestled among 100 acres of beautiful coffee plantations and orchards. We paid Rs 1000 per night for one of their cottages. The cottages were surprisingly spacious and cozy. The restaurant served delicious food and the waiters were all extremely friendly.

The cool, misty weather was a pleasant change from the heat of Chennai. We also enjoyed trekking through the orchards and sipping on locally grown coffee. If you're in the mood for a peaceful, cool escape from the city, Yercaud is the place to go!
